US Laser Technologies sells fiber laser cutting systems — flat sheet, tube, heavy pipe, plus the gas mixing that feeds them. Eleven product lines, each with its own specifications, and a buyer who is comparing capital equipment rather than browsing.
The brief
Industrial equipment sites usually fail in one of two directions: a brochure with no numbers, or a spec dump with no argument. The buyer needs both — first a reason to consider the brand at all, then the figures to check it against the machine they already run.
With eleven product lines sharing most of their structure, the second problem is maintenance. Every line has a hero, a video, a gallery, a spec table and related models. Built as eleven pages, the eleventh is out of date before the fifth is finished.
What I built
I built the front end and the back end. Product lines are one content type with typed fields — specs, gallery, video, related models — so every line page composes itself from the same template and a new machine is an entry rather than a build.
The argument on the home page is one long scroll-driven sequence rather than a stack of blocks: the case for the brand assembles as you descend it, which keeps a heavy pitch readable. Product videos reveal on scroll rather than autoplaying on load, so a page full of machines does not start four video streams the moment it opens.
Video that waits to be reached
On the technologies page the video block opens out as the section is reached rather than autoplaying at load. On a page full of machines that is the difference between opening instantly and starting several video streams before the buyer has read a word.
Technologies, one at a time
The technology section brings its points in sequence, so a dense block of capability reads as a list of claims rather than a wall.
Eleven product lines, one template
Every machine line is the same content type: hero, video, gallery, specification table, related models. Adding the twelfth is data entry. Built as separate pages it would have been a week of copy-paste and a maintenance debt that never gets paid down.
Cards that travel over the machine
A full-bleed shot of a cutting bed holds the frame while the claims move across it on scroll. The photograph does the selling and the text does the explaining, in the same screen, without either one waiting its turn below the other.
